Fiji Apples by Raz
"You know you want to." "...no, I don't think I do." "Oh, so you don't know that you don't want to!" Duo pointed a triumphant finger at Heero, eyebrows raised in victory. "C'mon, we'll get to see all those apples!" Heero gave Duo a bemused look. "Apples?" "You know, my favorite! Fiji apples!" "What?" Heero now looked as though he wasn't sure whether to be confused or amazed by Duo's lack of sense. "You mean Fuji apples?" "Fiji, Fuji, it's all the same." Duo waved a dismissive hand, waving the cruise tickets in front of Heero's face, watching as his friend turned cross-eyed while trying to follow the quick movement. "You know you want to come..." "Shouldn't you know the name of your 'favorite' apples?" Heero asked dryly, blinking away from the slips of paper. "Or at least have some command of the alphabet?" "Yes, well, if I were in charge of the alphabet, I would put U and I together." Duo grinned. "And then it wouldn't be as big of a difference!" Heero decided on being amazed by Duo's lack of sense. "Why don't you go on your own?" Heero asked, thinking reasonably. Someone had to, and judging by the man in front of him who wanted to take surprise trips to Fiji/Fuji, Heero had a feeling that he would definitely have to be the supplier of reason in the relationship. "You would miss me too much," Duo immediately replied, patting Heero's knee. Heero merely snorted. "Yes, well, I'm sure that snort was an exhale of all the love you have pent-up inside there for me." Duo rolled his eyes, leaning back in his chair. "C'mon, Heero, how can you pass up a free cruise to Fiji?" "It's Fiji now? I would have agreed to Fuji, but now the deal's off." Heero shrugged. "Fft, fine, but I'll be sure to mention to your friend Sharon, whose birthday is coming up very soon, that you couldn't even hop on afree cruise to buy her some birthday apples and visit her along the way," Duo retorted loftily. Heero ignored Duo's last statement. "Sharon doesn't live anywhere close to Fiji!" Duo nodded slowly, looking deeply perturbed as he rummaged around in his pockets. "Ahh, if only I had gotten tickets for a cruise to the U.S. as well...Oh, wait!" Heero stared at his friend in disbelief, sighing as Duo whipped out two more cruise passes. "How long have you been planning this for?" He finally asked, resigned. Duo merely grinned and pulled some shades out of his pocket, balancing them on his nose. "Nevermind that, go and pack! Now that I think about it, I wonder if there'll be a lot of apple cider, maybe some apple pie...I mean, they've got to do something with all those apples, right? Hmm..." Heero didn't even bother to correct the other man, merely shaking his head as they walked into the bedroom to start rummaging around for things they wanted to bring along. As he listened to Duo go on about his favorite apple-flavored delicacies, he wondered if Sharon was actually supposed to be happy that they were going to visit her. Well, at least she would get a lot of food.
