The Sun Keeps Rising by Corazon del Fuego
Duo slid his jacket around my shoulders before I even realized he'd taken it off. His hand stayed on my back, slowly rubbing along my spine. And suddenly, I'd forgotten what I was about to say. "Thank you. I didn't expect it to be this cold tonight." "Don't mention it. When you're in space for so long, you forget these things." I pulled his jacket closer around me. It smelled like soft leather with a subtle trace of black coffee. "Sometimes I wonder just how much I've forgotten." A smile tugged on his cheek. "The sun still rises in the east." "But your bedroom windows face west now." He stopped me, both hands on my shoulders as he looked down into my eyes. "I know it's there, even if I can't see it anymore." His arms wrapped around me, and I willingly stepped into his embrace. "The sun keeps rising whether you're here to watch it with me or not." I slid my hands up his sides and fisted my fingers in his shirt. "Four years is a lot of sunrises." "Let's not waste any more," he said. His mouth found mine, and I was grateful that some things in this life are just unforgettable.
