Thirty Second Gundam Wing: Turkey Day by Kracken
"I knew it!" Hilde gave the bowl of rice and vegetables a disgusted poke with a finger and then glared over it at Duo and Heero. Duo glared back, "Don't look at me! I'm not the cook here!" Heero crossed arms over his chest and snorted irritably, not liking his efforts criticized. Hilde plunked down her foil covered containers and began unwrapping them. Two sets of eyes cleared the edge of the table, wide and amazed. "What ya got, Mommy?" "Real food, Twinkie," she assured the little girl. Heero growled, "I told you not to call her Twinkie." Hilde put hands on hips, "You carry twins for nine months, and then force them out of your body, after twelve hours of labor, and I'll consider your request." "Heero," Duo soothed, "there's nothing wrong with Twinkie, right Sport?" The little boy grinned at his father. "Nope, Daddy." "I don't like nicknames," Heero retorted. "We spent a great deal of time choosing Alexander and Lucretia." "And Lu Lu just loves her name," Duo snickered and dodged a mock swat by Heero. Lucretia climbed up on a chair and Alexander piled into the same chair with her. Cinnamon hair, cobalt blue eyes, and faces like their mother's, it was obvious who their parents were and that science had been involved in their conception. "I like when Mommy cooks," Lucretia said excitedly. "There's nothing wrong with my cooking," Heero protested. "It's healthy... it's..." "Not Thanksgiving food," Hilde countered. "I don't know why you try this every year, Heero. You should know me by now. My kids are getting Thanksgiving." "It's an antiquated holiday," Heero argued. "I don't see why you celebrate it." Hilde unwrapped two pies, turkey, and stuffing. She swatted Alexander's attempt to stick a finger in one of the pies and replied, "It's about family, Heero. Maybe we aren't conventional, but we are one. I, for one, would like to celebrate that." "I like to celebrate, too," Duo said as he slipped an arm around Heero and smiled warmly at him. "It meant a lot to me when you decided to have the kids." Heero laid a hand on each of their children, his expression softening. "I've never regretted that decision... though it seemed... crazy... at the beginning." "Lets mix up our genes and knock up Hilde with them," Duo snickered. "Yeah, there was no good way to ask you to do that." "So, we're celebrating that decision?" Heero asked tentatively. Hilde considered it and then nodded, smiling. "Yes, I think so. An anniversary, if that's the way you want to look at it." "Then, I'll get the plates and we'll celebrate properly," Heero told them with a firm nod. "Yay!" Alexander crowed happily. "PIE! PIE! PIE!" "After your dinner," Hilde and Duo both admonished at the same time.
