Walks Like a Duck by Lionflower
Duo jumped at the touch on his shoulder and spilled drops of beer as he turned to see who was behind him at the bar. "Heero, Christ, don't do that." Heero watched Duo slug a mouthful of drink. "Why did you ask him what his favorite band was?" Heero asked as turned and tried to signal the bartender for a drink. Duo sighed, debated ignoring the question and came to the realization that Heero would pester him all night until he had an answer. "To start a conversation, you know? Can't just grunt at people and make a connection that leads to, well, other things." Duo scanned the dance floor as he carefully avoided Heero's gaze. Heero paused in waving his hand and turned to stare at the side of Duo's head. "You -- I didn't know you were trying to..." Duo wryly grinned and gestured with his drink. "Heero, my man, no one ever gets laid without sounding like an asshole every once in a while. I just had the distinct pleasure of you catching me this time." "Like an asshole, huh?" Heero muttered. Twisting his body, he hesitantly palmed Duo's braid. Duo turned at the tug on his scalp and watched Heero square his shoulders. "I want you to notice me, not a random idiot at the bar." Heero scowled at the hair in his hand and continued. "I want you to want to make a connection to me that leads to other things. I want you to come home with me right now and not leave. Ever." Heero risked a glance at Duo's face and asked "Is that enough of an asshole for you?" Duo slid his glass onto the bar, reached down and removed his hair from Heero's hand. Heero's hand spasmed, but Duo clutched it before Heero went anywhere. Turning his face to Heero, Duo intertwined their fingers and replied. "What have you been waiting for? Let's go."
