Duo's always in motion, a blur of hair and limbs and flashes of bright teeth, bared in a grin -- Heero is the only one that can stop Duo in his tracks by showing just a hint of his smile.

#02 -- Cool

Heero thinks he's so cool, Duo thought to himself one day while watching the other pilot type sternly into his laptop, but I know better, and Duo smiles when he remembers the first time Heero kissed him messily, clumsy, and decidedly un-cool.

#03 -- Young

There are times when Duo seems young, like when he smiles, when he laughs, when he kisses...but not now, Heero thinks, a little emptily, as he stands by and watches Duo kill mercilessly with his scythe.

#04 -- Last

Heero is Duo's first crush, sweetest kiss, best friend, most loyal comrade, and last love.

#05 -- Wrong

Heero wonders what Duo thinks of him, if he's getting it all wrong when he feels like Duo is waiting to kiss him sometimes; he also wonders what he'll do when/if Duo actually does it.

#06 -- Gentle

Duo is always gentle with Heero, as if Heero will break with the slightest whisper of the wrong word -- and when Duo stares at Heero in open-eyed wonder, Heero feels like he might, might just shatter into a thousand pieces and glue himself back together with Duo's honest affection.

#07 -- One

Heero has always been in search of someone who would make him feel whole, and he travels the universe like a wandering planet before he realizes that he's always been orbiting Duo, always.

#08 -- Thousand

Duo would give up a thousand lives in the future just to spend a little more time with Heero in this one.

#09 -- King

Duo makes Heero feel like the king of the world when Duo randomly gasps in the middle of the day, makes Heero look up questioningly, only to have Duo burst out with "I love you" like it's a revelation and go back to work.

#10 -- Learn

Duo wants to learn how to be the best he can be, so that he can get that much closer to being worthy of Heero.

#11 -- Blur

The years before Duo are a lonely blur to Heero, the days with Duo bright, crisp, and clear, like the day that Duo told Heero he loved him.

#12 -- Wait

Duo would wait for years for Heero rather than live one minute without him.

#13 -- Change

At first, Heero tries to change himself, tries to be someone else who's cooler, better-looking, wittier; it makes Heero nervous and uncomfortable in his own skin until finally Duo pulls him aside to lecture on how important individuality is and ends with, "hey, I like you, don't ever change," making everything better.

#14 -- Command

Duo says something like "your wish is my command" when Heero requests a strawberry ice cream on one of their first dates, and laughs like it's a joke, but Heero sees the serious lines on Duo's forehead and just thanks Duo solemnly for the gift Heero knows he's been given.

#15 -- Hold

Heero protests when Duo says this to him, replies that it's not true, but Duo knows that Heero loves to oh-so-subtly roll over in his "sleep" and curl up around Duo in a gentle embrace; they both know that Duo loves it, too.

#16 -- Need

This is all I need, Duo thinks sleepily as Heero carefully winds his limbs around Duo's, and he drifts off into a warm sleep.

#17 -- Vision

The first day Duo admits outloud that Heero is beautiful, Heero just squints skeptically and looks up a good eye doctor in the phonebook to schedule Duo an appointment with.

#18 -- Attention

Duo is always trying to get Heero's attention, by tapping Heero's arm, tugging gently on Heero's hair, kissing Heero's neck -- he doesn't seem to realize that he always has Heero's attention, always, no matter what he's doing.

#19 -- Soul

When in the psychologist's office for his yearly psych evaluation, the doctor holds up a picture that reminds Heero of Duo, and when she prompts him for a word or two that pops into his mind when he sees the strange, squiggly lines, Heero blurts out "my soul" and blinks.

#20 -- Picture

Heero tells Duo about it later, almost bemusedly, and isn't surprised when the exact same drawing is framed and hanging in Heero's office the next morning.

#21 -- Fool

He's Heero's fool, Duo replies laughingly when Heero calls him that (along with idiot and dummy and love-of-my-life).

#22 -- Mad

They get mad at each other often, fighting over losing the keys and burning breakfast -- but they always make up sweetly, with soft words and warm kisses.

#23 -- Child

Heero brings up the subject of adopting a child one day, out of the blue, and Duo's hands shake when he realizes that there's nothing that he'd like better, raising a beautiful child with Heero.

#24 -- Now

In the past Duo confused Heero with his flashing eyes, sharp smirk, quick tongue; now Duo mesmerizes Heero with his laugh lines, soft smile, tender words.

#25 -- Shadow

Only Heero knows what to do when the shadows crowding underneath Duo's eyes start to darken -- he wraps Duo in an impromptu hug and navigates them both onto the bed, no matter what time it is, and nestles with Duo until they both fall asleep.

#26 -- Goodbye

Saying goodbye is the hardest thing Heero will ever have to do, Heero starts to think as they grow older -- but Duo always tugs him out of his sad thoughtfulness, makes him forget about the future for now.

#27 -- Hide

Duo wants to hide Heero's smile deep inside him, wants to keep it with him forever, and when he confesses that to Heero, Heero just -- smiles, and tells Duo that he can have it anytime he wants.

#28 -- Fortune

Duo is worth a million fortunes, no, a billion, Heero whispers urgently into Duo's ear one night when they curl up together, sweaty and panting, and he lives for Duo's soft laugh exhaled against his forehead.

#29 -- Safe

Duo is Heero's safe haven, soft skin and warm arms and loose limbs that wrap so soothingly around him when he's distressed.

#30 -- Ghost

Heero looks like a thin, pale ghost when Duo is hospitalized for some strange sickness that doesn't go away for a week, and when Duo finally wakes up from his fever, he pulls Heero in for a dry, sweet kiss that tastes of relief -- then orders Heero to go eat some food.

#31 -- Book

Heero is secretly compiling a beautiful photobook of all of his important memories with Duo, but when he sticks a photo into the last slot and blinks, he realizes that all of his memories with Duo are important, and decides that he's going to need a bigger book.

#32 -- Eye

Duo's eyes are the ones that are commented on, how they change colors and look different depending on what Duo's feeling at the time, but Duo loves Heero's eyes more, and the way they soften when he looks at Duo.

#33 -- Never

Duo is never letting Heero look sad again, ever; he doesn't know that Heero has already made the same pact with himself regarding Duo.

#34 -- Sing

Duo sings off-key in the shower, when he works, with the radio; Heero sings softly when Duo has a nightmare and can't sleep.

#35 -- Sudden

Heero feels like one day he didn't have Duo and one day he did, but it wasn't sudden at all, the way Duo comfortably eased himself into Heero's life.

#36 -- Stop

Duo loves the way Heero stares at him when he thinks Duo isn't looking, the way Heero's eyes turn all awed, like he's barely resisting the urge to rub them, to make sure Duo isn't too good to be true -- Duo wants Heero to look at him like that forever; Heero already knows that he will never stop.

#37 -- Time

Time flows by when Heero and Duo are together, makes Duo want to hold onto it, slow it down, so he has more of it to spend with Heero.

#38 -- Wash

One day Duo returns from a mission covered in blood and dirt, his eyes frightened and blurry; Heero spends hours with Duo that night, washing the grime off and holding Duo, rocking him gently.

#39 -- Torn

Duo has never been torn with decisions regarding Heero; the answer is always Heero, over anything and anyone else.

#40 -- History

Heero and Duo have a history together, one that is filled with blood and guilt and glory -- but Heero only thinks of the past as the time that brought them together.

#41 -- Power

Duo doesn't realize that he has complete and absolute power over Heero -- Heero would do anything for Duo, anything, and it doesn't scare Heero because he knows Duo would never do anything that Heero doesn't want (but what Heero wants is everything that Duo has to offer, and Duo is more than okay with that too).

#42 -- Bother

Duo used to think that his constant poking and prodding and talking bothered Heero; it wasn't until later that he realized Heero craved those minor annoyances, took them in as gestures of affection; Duo realizes even later that Heero knew them for what they were before Duo did.

#43 -- God

Duo thinks rationally that what he is doing with Heero is technically a sin -- but the love in Heero's eyes is so pure that he doesn't quite understand why it is what it is.

#44 -- Wall

They decide to paint their apartment together, only they run out of paint halfway through and have to go get more -- except they get off-white instead of eggshell and now some walls are half this color, half that color, but Duo and Heero like it anyway, because it's theirs.

#45 -- Naked

Duo could spend all day in bed, all week, all year -- just smoothing his fingertips down the soft, naked skin of Heero's body.

#46 -- Drive

They go for long, scenic drives on their days off from work, comfortable silence between them or bickering about who got them lost last time (just fyi, Heero was the one with the map, and Duo was just the poor victim behind the wheel, and how was he supposed to know that "left" meant his "other left!").

#47 -- Harm

Duo would never harm Heero, never in a million years -- and he would kill anyone who dared to even think about it.

#48 -- Precious

Heero is precious to Duo in a way that he can't explain, only that when Heero leaves, Duo feels the urge to follow, and when Heero is with him, Duo wants to pull Heero into his lap and hold him, never to let go again.

#49 -- Hunger

Duo is always hungry, and Heero is more than happy to oblige -- by cooking Duo's favorites, feeding him freshly-chopped carrots, and kissing so deeply that they end up toppling into their bed and foregoing dinner altogether.

#50 -- Believe

Heero believes that Duo's love is like high winds and ocean waves -- powerful and constant; Duo believes that Heero's love is like morning dew and the smell of flowers -- tender and emotional; they both believe in happy endings.
