Heero's eyes blinked open, a small smile appearing on his face. "Terabithia." He read, "The restaurant we went to on our first..."

"Date." Duo supplied, with an impish grin. "Gundam pilots do date you know."

"Obviously." Heero replied, smirking. On impulse Duo leaned closer and the two shared a brief kiss. Then Heero took Duo's hand and they entered the dimly lit restaurant.

"Table for two." Duo ordered, pleasantly.

The man behind the desk sniffed loudly and shook his head. "There are no tables available." He told them coldly.

Both pilots surveyed the nearly empty dining room and turned back to the man. "No tables?" Duo asked incredulously.

The man again shook his head emphatically. "May I suggest the Rainbow Diner down the street?"

The hairs on the back of Duo's neck bristled. "Excuse me?!" He exclaimed loudly, slamming both hands down on the desk.

Heero put his hands on Duo's shoulders. "Come on, Duo." He spoke quietly but deadly. "Let's go." They left the restaurant silently shooting glares the whole way.

A few blocks away Duo suddenly stopped and sat down heavily on the curb, head hanging in his hands. Heero sat down beside him.

"I can't believe it!?" Duo began, anger lacing his words. "That self righteous bastard!" He looked up at Heero. "I thought for our anniversary..." Tears suddenly appeared in his eyes. He looked away embarrassedly.

All of a sudden he felt Heero's arms around him, and he leaned gratefully into them trying to shut out the harsh world. "It's ok." Heero told him softly. "We knew when we started this that we'd be going against the world." Duo nodded, holding him tighter. "And I told you that the world didn't matter to me...you did."

Duo pulled away and wiped his eyes. "I know. I feel that way too...it just hurts...ya know?" Heero wrapped his arm around Duo's shoulder, the glint in his eyes betraying his desire to go back and severely hurt that man. "And I wanted our anniversary to be special."

Heero shook his head. "It is!" Duo looked up questioningly. "You showed me that you're ready to stand against the world for what we have. I feel the same way for you."

Duo's eyes filled with wonder. "You're right." He finally whispered, his arm snagging out to wrap around Heero's waist. "You're right!"
